The Book List

“There are worse crimes than burning books. One of them is not reading them”
Ray Bradbury

I have several reading goals for the year.

First and foremost, I want to continue with a Daily Devotional that my wife gave me for Christmas.  It’s not long, but it is a good way to wind down every night.

Secondly, I want to study in-depth the Letters in the New Testament.  I read through the Old Testament in 2012, and I have read the Gospels and Acts but never really paid much attention to the Letters.  I will this year.

Third, I want to make sure that I read the Imprimis Essay every month.  (Side note: If you know of another monthly essay that you think I should read, be it politically right or left, sports, science, or other topic, please let me know)

Finally, I have 24 books that I want to read this year.  In order to make sure I mix it up, I broke them up into 3 categories: non-fiction, classics, my choice.  The non-fiction list is either social studies, history or self-improvement.  The classics come from the list 100 Books to Read Before You Die, and are ones I haven’t read before and which aren’t too long (in other words, I won’t be reading War and Peace.)  The final 8 are books of my choosing – ones that I just want to read.  The list isn’t complete here, because I may change my mind on some of those final 8.

8 Non-fiction books
Captivating – John & Stasi Eldredge  Completed 2/1/13
Raising Girls – James Dobson
Killing Lincoln – Bill O’Reilly
How to Win Friends and Influence People – Dale Carnegie Completed 4/17/13
