The Why
I’m a very physical person. I’ve been actively involved in team sports every year since I was 7, meaning 25 of my 32 years of existence have included some form of physical competition. However, I feel like I still don’t know how far I can take my body. I intend to push the limits this year.

Sure, running the equivalent of a half-mile every day doesn’t seem like much, but at the end of the year, it will be more than I’ve ever run before. The distance is achievable…missing a day here or there won’t put me behind so much that I will want to give up.

Yes, “working out every day” is nebulous in concept, and this is intentional. I don’t always have the time to site down and run through a full DVD of P90X, but I can find a way to put in 100 push-ups and sit-ups, or get a good long jog in.

As for the others, they are all goals I have wanted to improve upon or complete for quite some time. I’ve climbed a 13,000 foot peak, but not 14k. I’ve skydived once and want to do it again. I ran the Tough Mudder last year in Wisconsin, now I want to do the Tough Mudder and the Warrior Dash.

The purpose of each is to test myself physically. Can I do what I set out to do? How hard can i work to achieve something new? How far can I push myself beyond what I thought were my limits?

I know a lot of this may be crazy. That’s okay. I’m fine with that. What I’m not okay with is settling for ordinary.

Are you?
