“What we do in life echoes in eternity.”
Your time is wearing thin. My time is wearing thin. Regardless of your beliefs of an afterlife, God, gaia, reincartion, etc…, the fact remains, you have a finite amount of time to spend on this earth, and it slips away from you one day at a time. What you do with your time here is your legacy, your “eternity”.
“Lost time is never found again.”
So my question to you is this: What are you doing with your time? Are you truly happy with yourself and what you are doing, or are you simply satisfied?
“Let him who would enjoy a good future waste none of his present.”
If you answered the question with anything other than a positive affirmation that you are happy, what are you going to do about it? We only get one chance at this life. Our days are fleeting, and often fly by faster than we realize. How many times have you uttered the phrase “where does the time go?” Want to know where it goes? To borrow a term from my daughter, it goes bye-bye.
“Man is like a breath; his days are like a fleeting shadow.”
We can not reclaim the minutes, hours or days that have passed us by. But we can claim the ones that will come our way in the future. We don’t get another shot at this, so it’s time to take the shot you have. And do you want to know the best part about this shot? You don’t have to aim. You just have to go. If you’ve been waiting for the time to be right to do something, it will never be more right than it is right now. You just have to grasp this opportunity and never let go. Want to get in better shape? Do it. Want to learn an instrument? Do it. Want to perfect a skill? Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it!
What you are doing today will echo your life for eternity. People will remember you by your actions, or forget you by your inactions. When you’ve moved on, either out of someone’s life or from this life, what will those remaining say about you? Did you inspire them to be better themselves? Did you never waste an opportunity? Did you always move forward? Were you pleased with yourself?
It’s time to make ourselves “yes” answers to these questions. You may not get there tomorrow, but you can move in that direction. Better yourself today. Abraham Lincoln once said, “The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time.” We don’t have to be perfect, we just have to be better. And better comes one small step at a time. What’s amazing about this is that as you make those steps you will find yourself happier and more fulfilled, regardless of how far away your goal seems, because you are moving towards it.
This is your life. Make it better.
